I am Elinor Chisholm, a senior research fellow at He Kainga Oranga, the Housing and Health Research Programme, in the Department of Public Health, at the University of Otago, Wellington.
I conduct qualitative and historical research about housing.
I am currently working on research projects looking at mixed tenure communities, eviction, and the effect of housing interventions on health.
My PhD research, completed in 2016, is a history of renter activism in New Zealand, and draws on a survey with renters and interviews with renter advocates to understand the reasons why rental housing is in such poor condition.
This blog is a personal blog and separate from my employment.
